Let’s Talk Understanding Conflict

By Latest NewsNo Comments

Zoom workshops in June

Unresolved destructive conflict causes communication and relationship breakdown in families, teams and organisations of all kinds, making it difficult to live or work well together.

These workshops help participants to improve their understanding of conflict, how conflict may cause relationships to suffer, how good communication skills can help to prevent it from becoming destructive and how to deal creatively with conflict to restore and build relationships in families, organisations and communities.

These workshops will be of interest to individuals and to those who work in the voluntary, community and faith, public and private sectors, particularly team leaders.

Led by Joanna Williams, Director for Reconciliation

Reconcilers Together: Journey of Hope: a 6 month community reconciliation training for 20 emerging faith leaders

https://www.reconcilerstogether.co.uk/

The Blackley Centre is delighted to be a part of the second Journey of Hope Pilgrimage as, together with our partner organisations in Reconcilers Together we are working to equip and enable peacemakers from across the country. This time applicants are invited from all faith communities. This is a brilliant opportunity – do have a look at the website above for more details.

If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that our personal and collective response in times of crisis are crucial. As Covid-19, racial injustice, and the climate crisis continue to deeply impact our society, we are inviting you to join a community of committed peacemakers on a journey of hope: not the kind of hope that simply wishes for change optimistically, but the kind of hope that faces reality, stands in solidarity, and takes radically compassionate action.

This community will be an anchor point as we explore together how to creatively and courageously respond to conflict, cultivating a more relational and resilient society.

If you believe a new, more peaceful way of being is not only possible but paramount and want to be inspired by transformative leadership and innovative practices, this training is for you.

Covid 19 and the Blackley Centre

By news

The Blackley Centre has had to follow Government restrictions and this has inevitably effected the services that we have been able to offer. At this time of anxiety, fear and loss, we have felt it important to keep working in as many ways as we can, offering support and help to others.

In the short term we have developed on line training on conflict and anxiety, offering interpersonal mediations using virtual platforms, and individual coaching for church leaders to help them navigate these strange and troubling times. Increasingly we are developing our links with other faith groups and exploring how we can learn from each other as to how we respond to these new times.

As the restrictions are, hopefully, easing, we are looking to recommence our Peace and Quiet individual retreat days, beginning again in September. Numbers will necessarily be limited, so please contact us as soon as possible if you are interested in joining us for one of these days.

Thank You

It is getting on for a year since our Launch event on October 12th 2019. Thank you to all who came. We had a fantastic afternoon and it was lovely to have the opportunity to meet with many of the people who are supporting the Blackley Centre. The year hasn’t been quite what we were expecting with the pandemic hitting our activities and events in the same way as everyone else, but we are still delivering services and are looking to re-opening properly as soon as we can.

At the Launch we asked people to consider membership of the Centre. If you are interested in becoming a Member of the Blackley Centre and making a regular donation to support the work, please contact us for a membership pack, or ring for a chat to find out more.

(Re)Launch of the Blackley Centre

By news

Dear Friends,

You may have already received these invitations by other routes – if so, please forgive the duplication. Please also excuse the ‘group’ nature of this email. Some of you are very dear friends, or indeed family, whilst others are passing ‘companions on the way’, and a collective email is hard to write to such a varied group. So if it is too formal, or too familiar, we hope you will understand, and read further!
You, or the organisation of which you are a part, has come alongside us in some way in our journey of creating the Blackley Centre for Peace, Reconciliation and Dialogue (Relate, Restore, Reconcile) and we have shared with many of you our vision for this place. Some of you have benefited from training provided by the centre, others from mediation or conflict transformation work, and many of you have encouraged us personally as we have sought to create a place for relating across difference for our broken world, here in beautiful West Yorkshire. So….
We would like to invite you to the (Re) Launch of The Blackley Centre. Saturday 12th October 2019 at 2.00 pm.
Whilst the Centre has been in existence for some years, and the newer work of Peace, Reconciliation and Dialogue has been underway for 18 months, we wanted to have an event to officially ‘launch’ so to speak. We have put together what we hope will be a great afternoon, with workshops, a short play by Sardines Theatre Company, a singing workshop with Janet Swan and ‘Singing for the Soul’, a collaborative art mosaic, tea, cake, and a short celebration at 4.00 pm to close the afternoon.
We would love to see you there and to catch up, but also to share with you where the centre is going, how it is growing, how we may be able to work with and for you in the future and how you can be a part of the story.
To help with catering we would ask that you let us know if you hope to come, either by phone 01422 646803 or via Eventbrite
